Emerald PopStop was a software program that was designed to let users block unwanted popups in order to provide a more enjoyable Internet surfing experience.

Emerald PopStop has been discontinued due to the inclusion of the Pop-up Blocker for Internet Explorer that is part of Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you are running an older OS other than XP we recommend you use an excellent and free popup blocker included with the Google Toolbar.

We were very fortunate to have over 76,000 people download PopStop.  We would like to thank each of you for your kind words of support over the last two years.  Once Windows XP SP2 was released was saw a drop in traffic and demand for the product dropped off drastically.

Why do sites continue to try to send popup ads when it is such a well documented fact that users hate them?  Ask yourself if cnn.com really needs to send a popup to you when there are already over 8 ads per page!

While IE now includes a popup blocked, it does not do a very good job of warning you when you visit a bad site.  We have developed a new toolbar to help give you information about websites while you are online.

Safe to View is an Internet Explorer 6/7 toolbar addin. It shows you while you are surfing the web if a site may be threatening to you or not.  There are also over 40 categories of domains (the same as the Emerald Web Shield) for you to choose the type of content you want flag as objectionable.

You are warned graphically within IE if a site you are loading might be a threat.  You can optionally have the toolbar block the site from loading.

We have received quite a few emails from users who are still seeing popups on their computers even though they have a popup blocker installed. Most of these users are infected with Spyware / Adware.
