After receiving numerous emails from customers
asking how to get rid of the Messenger Service popups we decided to build a
free tool to eliminate them. This tool will allow you to turn Microsoft
Messenger Service on or off.
Direct IP Spam is the fastest growing type of unsolicited advertisement on the
Internet today! It was estimated to have been growing as much as
1500% a month. We have seen a severe decline in this type of popup since
Windows XP SP2 was released.
ISPs and governments are powerless to stop it. There are no laws governing
these types of messages. Even if you can track down the sender of these popups,
there is no legal way to stop them!
These messenger service popups were originally intended to be used as
notifications on a corporate network when print jobs completed, or an
administrator needed to reach a user in a hurry. Leaving this enabled on
Windows XP Home was an oversight by Microsoft that has been corrected with
the release of Service Pack 2.
Windows Vista comes with the Windows Messenger Service disabled by
default!
